Every year in New York, when winter begins to take hold, New Yorkers love to bond around an endless number of complaints about how miserably cold it is.
It even seems so much colder than Vail, Colorado where I spent my New Year's holiday. Perhaps it's the wind or the changing temperature that makes some days feel unbearable. Of course, it could also be that New York can just be bitterly cold. Last week, the National Weather Service reported that Central Park reached a 118-year low of 4 degrees Fahrenheit (-15 C). With the ever-present wind chill the temperatures felt much lower.
The cold weather does have an upside. The colder it gets the more clothing needed to stay warm. That presents a great opportunity to look hot. Winter is an incredible opportunity to mix, match and accessorize. Fashion possibilities in winter are boundless, with so many occasions to express your distinctiveness.
This is how Dorothy and I prepared for early January’s extreme temperatures.
